Appreciation of every aspect of life brings you true happiness

God, the creator of this world, is a great divine artist. He has used his favorite colors and contrasts while creating and maintaining this magnificent masterpiece – the universe. We just need the proper understanding, wisdom and modesty to appreciate the beauty in every aspect of life.

Look all around yourself and appreciate the contrasts in every aspect of life. God created day, as well as the night; summer as well as the winter; spring as well as the fall; roses as well as the thorns; birth as well as the death; Each one of such contrasting aspects have beauty of its own. However, if you get attached to a particular aspect or if you bring your ‘likes and dislikes’ into picture, then you are bound to suffer. If you begin to like summer, then you won’t be able to appreciate the beauty associated with winter.

Similarly, life is made up of success and failure; happiness and sorrow; love and hate; friends and foe. Begin to appreciate both the aspects of life, without getting attached to the one. Success brings you encouragement and happiness. At the same time failure makes you stronger and tries to elevate you to next level. You just have to make proper use of every moment of life. Happy moments can be utilized by showing your gratitude and praise of the Lord; whereas difficult moments can be properly utilized by reminding yourself about the futility of this illusionary world and seeking inner happiness instead of the worldly pleasures. It is human nature to resort to spirituality in difficult moments only.

In Vedanta philosophy, there is a doctrine of Drishti-Shrishti vaad, wherein it is propounded that as is your drishti (outlook), so is the shrishti (world) around you. Each one of us have world of our own based on our insight, our likes and dislikes, our experiences and our outlook. The same rat would look different to you, than it would look to a cat because of the difference in the outlook. You would look at a rat as a pest whereas a cat would look at the same rat as a delicious food. Similarly, whole of the world around is based on your outlook.

In God’s eyes, there is nothing good or bad, nothing appreciable or depreciable; it’s all the same. With such an understanding, a true seeker practices to remain in the witness state of detachment. A true seeker works on becoming free of likes and dislikes, improving his outlook and appreciating every aspect of life. In this manner, the true seeker slowly progresses on the path of inner peace and true happiness.

  1. The true seeker has bought out the meaning of life through this small little article. The message given here is no inferior to the revelation that Buddha received sitting uder the peepal tree in Bodh Gaya. Life bceomes happier every day only when we dare to accept every thing that is presented to us. We need to see everything with indifference. Life is not completely about happiness nor about sadness but a mixture of all of these. The probelms taht we face are a means to test our appreciation of life by God. We are in a cluster of feelings and need to accept every thing.
