God is much more than a concept

All the religions of the world contributed    a lot to the social, spiritual and wholesome upliftment of humankind. Religions taught us the importance of leading a pious life. Religions taught us the importance of speaking the truth, being honest, being kind, being helpful, respecting each other and many other such virtues. Religions taught us to believe in a power much higher than us, the God. Religions gave a platform to the human race to come together in remembrance of God, pray and express our gratitude to the Supreme Being. Religions brought the people of same faith together.

However, at the same time religions failed to introduce us with our own true nature. Religions failed to reveal the Truth – the Truth about our own real Self and the Truth about the Supreme Being. Religions glorified God up to such an extent that we began to degrade our self to be nothing more than a common being- a poor, sinful and impure being. Religions created a concept of God that is a supremely powerful Being, who lives somewhere in the seventh heaven- way high up there, somewhere. In other words, religions have created a chaos and confusion when it comes to the knowledge of God or experiencing God while living. Religions gave us a faith system or a belief system which imparted upon us nothing more than a blurred idea or concept of God.

Just the concept of God cannot help us to gain inner peace, love and happiness. Just the belief or faith cannot help us to know the God, to recognize God or to build a relationship of love with God. We cannot build the relationship of love with merely a vague concept of God. Belief is important, but there is a huge gap between belief and knowing or experiencing God.

This is where spirituality and meditation comes to the rescue of a true seeker. Meditation bridges the gap between the belief and knowing or realization. First of all, spirituality helps to restore our own self image by introducing us to our own true Self. We are made of the same stuff that God is made up of – Pure Sat-Chit-Ananda (Eternal-Conscious-Blissful) Consciousness. The holy scriptures, the talks of the Self realized saints and the company of true seekers purify our inner senses – mind, intellect and ego.

With the help of all the means of spirituality, the seeker not only begin to slowly realize the true Self, but also begins to understand the relation between the being and the Supreme Being, soul and the Supreme Soul, consciousness and the Supreme Consciousness. Such an understanding not only evaporates the false ego of the seeker, but also helps to build a beautiful loving relation with the omnipresent God. Slowly, the seeker begins to taste the inner peace, love and blissfulness, after experiencing which all the worldly happiness seems futile.

So, God is much more than a mere concept or idea. Try to know Him, try to experience Him, try to realize him and try to be one with Him while living, not after death. Then only you can experience the deep peace and true love in your heart.
