A newly married young royal couple was
traveling in the boat to cross the river Ganges. Suddenly storm like
conditions surfaced, wind started blowing and the boat started
shaking. The Queen moved closer to the King who had no trace of
worries of his face. She whispered in King's ear, “My dear, aren't
you scared?”
The King was fortunate to have the
blessings and company of the Saints from an early age. He took his
sword out of its case and put it on the Queen's neck. The Queen was
startled for a moment and then started laughing. The King asked,
“Aren't you scared?”
“The sword is in the hands of my
master, not my enemy. Why would I be scared?”
“My dear, our life and this boat are
also in the hands of our master – our God, who is our Supreme well
wisher. Then, why would I be scared,” answered the King in the same tone.
It is only when we lack faith in the
workings of the Almighty; it is only when we begin to question His
decisions; it is only when we get attached to the petty and selfish
motives; it is only when we nourish our ego and forgets about our
true Self; it is only when we begin to focus on the results instead
of our duties that we begin to worry. Instead of questioning our
destiny, we just need to learn the art of merging our “Yes” with
the “Yes” of the Supreme Doer. This is the key to become worry
free.
The Master of the Universe is operating
each and every galaxy, each and every star, each and every planet,
each and every thing (living and non-living), each and every being,
each and every living cell, each and every atom – all with such a
high degree of precision and perfection. He is operating everything
around you – be it the people, things or the circumstances. Let Him
operate your life also in His own manner. You just sit back, relax
and be a witness, without any worries. He knows better than you.
Whatever is best for you, will happen. You just continue to perform
your duties and selfless service to others without worrying about the
results.
Saint Kabir has put it rightly:
Hindi [ Mere Chintayo Hot nahi, Hari ke chintyo hoi,
Hari
chintayo Hari kare, mai soou nishchint.]
Translation: [ My worries won’t make it happen, God worries will,
Let
God carry out His own worries, I will sleep at ease.]
Guru Nanak also said:
Hindi [ Chinta ta ki kijiye, jo anhoni hoi,
Ahi maarag sansaar ko, Nanak thir nahi koi.]
Translation: [ Worry only for that, if something un-destined happens,
On this path of the life, there is nothing permanent.]
Your tendency to worry dissipates the
inherent powers of your will. The worry-less state of mind give rise
to the Supreme peace in your heart. The Supreme peace is the mother
of all of human strength and abilities. When
a scientist remain in peaceful state of mind, he creates wonders. A
painter brings forth a masterpiece when he completely forgets about
the outer world and paints in peace. A musician give birth to
melodious albums when he resides in peace. It is also a common
experience that we take a good decision when we are in worry free and
in peaceful state of mind. Being worry-less is a blessing – not
only does it improves your physical health, but it is the first step
towards the exploration of inner peace and supreme happiness. So, I
would say – Don't worry, be happy !
Even after reading this blog, if you
are still worried, then take it easy and listen to my friend Rama's
favorite song by Bob Marley - “Don't worry, be happy!”
