Caution:
This topic is for advanced seekers. In my humble opinion, new seekers might take
a long time to comprehend this one.
It took me a long time to understand the meaning of the word “TRUTH”, when it comes to spirituality. I mean the word “TRUTH” in reference to the spiritual quotes like:
It took me a long time to understand the meaning of the word “TRUTH”, when it comes to spirituality. I mean the word “TRUTH” in reference to the spiritual quotes like:
- Know the Truth and you will be blessed.
- You can recite and discuss scripture, all you want, but until you drop everything, you will never know Truth. – Astavakra Gita
- The Truth of oneself alone is worthy to be scrutinised and known. – Ramana Maharshi
- The knower of Truth is never miserable in the world, for the whole universe is filled with Himself alone. – Astavakra Gita
In the initial years of my seeking, I couldn't relate to the phrase, “Knowing the Truth”. I could only understand
telling the truth. In the worldly conduct, it is generally taught to the young
ones that one should always tell the truth, never lie. It took me long time to
understand that the truth (which is opposite of a lie) is different than the
spiritual Truth. In reference to the worldly affairs, telling a truth means
telling as it is, as per your understanding, as your senses have perceived. But
at the same time, they say, whatever your eyes see is not always the truth. In
other words, the truth can change from person to person, based on their
situation, their perceptions and their pre-conceived notions.
However,
the real TRUTH, the spiritual TRUTH is absolute. It is not relative to your
perceptions, to your situation or your senses. It IS as is. It is eternal – that
which never born or die. It refers to your Consciousness, your Awareness – the Absolute
Omnipresent Eternal Conscious Blissful TRUTH.
There
are three realms – The “TRUTH”, the “False” and the “Myth”. The TRUTH is ever
present, eternal. TRUTH never changes with time – it was, is and will always
remain the same. The False never exists. Something like a horn on human head or
a flying fish. The myth is something which was not there before, only appears
to be in the middle and then again ceases to exist in the end. Myth is
something that is always in the state of flux, continuously changing and moving
towards its end. It is like a dream – which doesn’t exist in reality, but appears
to be true in the middle (while dreaming), but ceases to exist in the end.
Myth is
something like human body, or any object of the world, or this world itself. It
is evident by the scriptures, by the history and by our own experience that this
ever changing world is nothing more than a Myth. All of this is Maya, the Myth –
mere play of senses. It is not the Truth.
While
conducting in the world, there are three domains - “This”, “That” and “I”. “This”
and “That” pertains to other objects and other people, but “I” pertains to the Observer
himself. The Observer, who perceives. All the perceptions of “This” and “That”
are ever changing and hence, the myth. However, the Observer (“I”) remains the
same. The childhood has passed, the adolescence has gone, youth is passing by,
the old age will also pass, however, “I”, the one who is experiencing these
stages, the experiencer himself will remain the same. That “I”, your true Self
is the “TRUTH”.
The true
seeker seeks that spiritual, eternal and ever present TRUTH by realizing which
a being gets blessed; by realizing which the being gets emancipation while
living (not after death); by realizing which all doubts are evaporated and no
more question is left; by realizing which the coveted state of deep peace and
bliss is attained.

ReplyDeleteSo, doesn't it mean that searching and seeking is leading us away from the truth? How can one seek peace? Doesn't one have to be at peace?
Have you realized the truth or are you a seeker still? Because no one is to be trusted these days. But you seem to be genuine. Please tell me, are you at peace?
Dear Black Dagger, You seems to be a genuine seeker having genuine inquisitiveness. No, it doesn't mean that searching and seeking is leading you away from the Truth. Your seeking should be wholesome (as opposed to be focused on one approach) with truly open mind. You read scriptures, listen to the Self realized ones, perform Self analysis, meditate for purifying the intellect. At the same time, you perform prayers, show your gratitude, perform selfless service, love the Omnipresent God for purifying your heart. Then only you progress to a higher state (with a pure heart and pure mind) wherein you will be able to drop everything. Till then continue with all the aspects of Sadhana (seeking). Similar message is present in my last blog where you commented : http://thehappybaba.blogspot.com/2012/06/chup-sadhana-by-swami-ramsukhdasji.html
DeleteYou are right ... these days it's difficult to trust. However, with a pure heart if you continue your search, true Master or a Self realized one will appear in your life on its own. This is a universal truth.
I would like to share one more appropriate thought relevant to the same topic. The process of Self realization is the result of a lot of conscious and focused Self analysis or research of the inner world. Just like a Scientist initially reads and analyze a specific subject, clarifies all his doubts, and then drop all the learning, and go for a new invention. Similarly a Sadhak (true seeker) reads scriptures, listens to the Self realized one and perform meditation of the Self; and in this manner clarifies the doubts and purifies the mind. And then finally drop everything, and go for establishing oneself in the Supreme inner peace and Blissfulness.
ReplyDeleteThink about it. If a researcher drop everything before even learning the basics of the subject, where would he land up ? So, the quote from Ashtavakra Gita above is for the matured and advanced sadhaks (seekers). Hari Om !
