God created the beautiful life and is the supreme well wisher of each and every being. Then how can the same God create sorrow? God didn't create sorrow, but the man did. It is not the God, but it is the untamed mind that creates sorrow; it is the ignorant mind, that considers this illusionary world as truth and runs after cravings of the momentary pleasures and in turn, creates sorrow; it is the restless mind that hankers for worldly happiness and creates sorrow; it is the unenlightened mind that is full of doubts about the Self and the inner world that creates the sorrow.
If someone blames God for the sorrows in life then that reminds me of a short story. One of the wealthy man of the village built a water well for the benefit of whole village. Once a little child fell into the well while playing. The mother rushed immediately to the scene and started cursing the wealthy man. Well was built for the benefits of the villagers, but if the well is misused, then it isn't the fault of the builder.
God gifted us all with a world full of wonders and a pristine body with trillions of cells as pristine as a dew-drop at the time of birth. But, it is the mind which doesn't count the blessings, but engage in the an endless, self-defeating or pointless pursuit of wealth, power and happiness, and in turn creates sorrow. Human afflictions are either physical (bodily) or mental. The wise ones realize that mankind is suffering from mental afflictions, more than the physical. In fact they realize that most of the health related issues are also results of mental restlessness and anxiety.
The sages of India did a lot of contemplation on sorrow. Patanjali Maharaj proposed that most of the sorrows of the world are associated with the pleasures of the world and can be broadly categorized into three categories – Taap dukh, Sanskaar dukh and Parinaam dukh. When you crave for the worldly pleasures, you suffer from Taap dukh. For example, when you crave for a bigger house, a bigger car, a powerful position or any kind of luxuries of the world, your heart burns in that craving and the sorrow associated with such cravings is called as Taap dukh.
When you enjoy the pleasures of the world, your mind gets used to it. The expressions, which are engraved in your mind while consuming the worldly pleasures, result into the habitual tendency and the associated sorrow. For example, the habit of drinking, smoking, partying etc becomes your sanskaar (habit) and the associated sorrow falls into this category of Sanskaar dukh.
When you enjoy the pleasures of the world in excess, without controlling yourself, then the results also bring forth sorrow and such sorrow falls into the category of Parinaam dukh. For example, if you love eating without restraining your cravings, you gain weight which results into many health issues.
