Recognize your own true Self

Your true nature is Sat-Chit-Ananda (eternal-conscious-blissful). You are pure consciousness, part and parcel of the Supreme Consciousness, the God. You are pure, peaceful, complete Soul, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, the Paramatma. You are the King of Kings, you are the supreme power. To realize this Truth is the highest goal of human life. Even after taking human birth, if one remains perturbed, confused and unfulfilled, then human birth is a waste. Unless and until the true seeker realizes his own True nature, he won't be able to get rid of all forms of miseries, he won't be able to gain the supreme peace or the highest form of inner happiness. How difficult is it to realize one own's Self?

Let me tell you a short story in this regard. Once upon a time, there was a King named Hari Singh in the western part of India. On one of the Holi festival, he went out of his palace in common attire to enjoy the festivities with the masses. He saw a group of people were consuming an intoxicating beverage called bhang in the corner of a street. He also joined them and started drinking bhang.

He began to enjoy the drink. Under the spell of that drink, he lost his senses and forgot his true self. He got addicted to bhang in such a manner that he spent many days on the street with other street beggars. He forgot about his own status and started considering himself also as ones of the beggars.

One day, the beggars were praising the King and talking about how the King generously gives charity every morning. He decided to go to the the palace next morning for seeking some of the charities from the King.

Next morning, when he went to the palace, the doorman thought - 'This beggar looks like our King, but how come is he in the form of a beggar. He confused doorman informed the minister about the beggar.

The minister, who was already looking for the King for past few days came in a rush and recognized the King. He asked the beggar about his demand.

The beggar said, “I want to meet the King for seeking some charities.”

The intelligent minister figured out that the King is under the spell of bhang. The minister brought a mixture of curd and lemon. He said, “Sure, I can help you meet the King. But you have to drink this mixture before that.”

When the King drank the mixture, he threw up and regained his senses after a few minutes. The minister said, “Now tell me, do you really want to meet the King.”

The King started smiling and said, “Look my friend. Don't tell about this episode to anyone.”

Before laughing on the state of that King, we should also understand that similar to that King under the spell of drunkenness, we are also under the spell of the maya (illusion). We have also forgotten our own true Self - our own royal, eternal, peaceful and blissful nature. Unless and until we recognize our own true nature, we won't be able to claim the kingdom of supreme peace and inner happiness.
